- I have officially claimed the warmest patch of sunlight on the rug as our official operational headquarters for the week. ☀️🐾
D.A. thinks Mondays are for easing gently into reality.
I say Mondays are for checking our reading stacks, auditing household snack reserves, and making sure our detective instincts are sharper than a paring knife.

The victim made a career of bullying ranchers and helping hidden billionaires grab land, leaving plenty of enemies behind. Hatta's friend Ruth becomes a suspect after discovering the body, while an angry rancher cheated out of his family's property has motive galore.
With her fearless Yorkie, Sprout, at her side, Hatta starts digging for answers. But every clue uncovers deeper secrets, and someone is determined to keep the past buried. As danger closes in and the killer threatens her, Hatta must expose the murderer before the next trail ends at her grave.

Dot’s Take: A pastry left unattended on the counter is not a baking project, it is an unsolved crime scene, and I am the lead investigator assigned to taste-test the evidence. 🕵️♀️🐾

🍩🔍 The Monday Detective Challenge: The Colossal Cronut Catastrophe
Move over, standard quiz questions, it's time to put your field operative skills to the test right here in your inbox!
The Crime:
It’s National Donut Day at the local Sugar Glaze Bakery, and the town has been waiting all year for the grand reveal of the "Colossal Raspberry Cronut." But disaster struck! Just as the doors were about to open, the magnificent centerpiece was found completely squashed, with its famous raspberry filling splattered all over the display case.
Only three people were in the shop when the pastry was pulverized:
- Oliver the Barista, who claims he was in the back room meticulously calibrating the espresso machine for the morning rush.
- Mayor Higgins, who insists he was just standing by the counter, with his eyes closed, practicing his "Happy National Donut Day" ribbon-cutting speech.
- Penelope the Pastry Trainee, who says she was entirely focused on folding empty pink pastry boxes by the delivery door.
The Clue:
A sticky trail of bright red raspberry filling leads directly from the display case to the espresso machine, and one suspect was seen furiously trying to wipe powdered sugar off their dark trousers.
But... upon closer inspection of the crime scene, Margo noticed the espresso machine was completely ice cold—Oliver hadn't run a single hot water line all morning! To make matters even spicier, Penelope the Trainee just conveniently "found" an empty jar of raspberry filling hidden inside one of her freshly folded pink pastry boxes.

D.A. here, stepping in while Dot takes a well-deserved nap on her stolen blanket. There is something magical about a crisp Monday morning when the dark roast coffee is piping hot and you're safely curled up trying to figure out who is the culprit in the book you are reading.
It’s the ultimate cozy ritual and no one can tell me otherwise.
Dot: (From under the blanket) I am not asleep. I am simply resting my eyes while I analyze the cronut crime scene.
