☀️ The Case of the Relocated Sunbeam (and a stolen biscuit) 🐕

D.A. Sweeten - Wander & Wonder Cozy Mysteries

🐾 Dot's Wander & Wonder Weekly

Traveling from one mystery to the next... with Margo and Dot.

🐾 Dot's Detective Notes

Paws up, detectives! Chief Detective Dot reporting. 🐶🔍

I am currently investigating a high-stakes crime scene in the living room.

The sunbeam on the rug has moved exactly three feet to the left.

This is unauthorized relocation of prime sleeping real estate. I am currently lying face-down on the floor conducting forensic heat-level tests. ☀️🔍

Normally, I would run today's investigation solo, but D.A. practically begged me for airtime.

She claims she wants to introduce today's Featured Read herself. (And honestly, after I was caught on Saturday "inspecting" a buttered biscuit on the kitchen counter, I’m letting her take the wheel for a minute).

Fine, D.A. You can approve today’s book, just don’t make it boring.

The floor is yours. 🐕⚖️🐕⚖️

🎃📚 Today's Featured Cozy Mystery

Dead Over the Cliff: A Hatta McFarlane & Sprout Cozy Mystery

by Lily Briar

A deadly ATV fall on the Forney grade looks like a tragic accident to the town of Salmon... but Hatta McFarlane, her fearless Yorkie, Sprout, and Sheriff Hobbs know the brakes were tampered with.

The Clues & Suspects:

  • 🚗 The Crime: An unlocked garage, unpaid debts, and old construction resentments.
  • 👻 The Allies: Sharp advice from a ghostly grandmother Agatha and grounding support from Cade.
  • 🕵️‍♀️ The Suspect List: A bitter subcontractor, an ambitious builder, and a landowner hiding dangerous ties.

Can Hatta expose the killer before two mysterious cars trap her on a lonely road—and make her the next accident?

D.A. Approved Pick: A fearless Yorkie named Sprout, a ghostly grandmother dropping sharp advice, and a brake-sabotage mystery? Watch out, Dot, Sprout is giving you some serious detective competition!✨📖

🧩🔎 Spot The Odd One Out

Chief Detective Dot taking back control of this newsletter. 🐕⚖️

First of all, D.A., Sprout is a Yorkie. I am Chief Detective Dot. There is no competition. I have badge number #001 for a reason. Giving you the mic was clearly a tactical lapse in judgment on my part.

Moving on to official business before D.A. tries to approve my lunch menu... let's do a quick brain-warmup! 🕵️‍♀️🐾

Below is a list of four items found at a quaint Victorian afternoon tea party in a cozy mystery novel. Three of them belong in a classic cozy scene... one of them definitely does not.

  • A) A silver teapot filled with Earl Grey tea
  • B) A plate of freshly baked blackberry scones
  • C) A set of tactical military night-vision goggles
  • D) A dropped silk handkerchief with embroidered initials

Which one is the odd one out?

Hit reply to this email with your answer! (Hint: If you choose the night-vision goggles, you're on my level). 📝🐾

🛒📖 Dot's Monday Reading Raid

Dot and I don't always see eye to eye, but today we agreed on one thing: entering a new week with an empty reading queue is simply unacceptable!

We’ve teamed up to sniff out three fantastic cozy mysteries from fellow authors that are guaranteed to kick off your week on the right page.

I gathered the links and Dot gave her final stamp of inspection.

Go ahead, treat your TBR before Monday gets away from you:

☕ Coffee with D.A.

Happy Monday again, everyone! ☕✨

I’m sitting at my desk with a giant, steaming mug of cinnamon roast coffee, watching the autumn fog settle over the garden while Dot naps in her newly relocated sunbeam.

I was reading a new mystery novel over the weekend and found myself completely obsessed with the fictional town it was set in. It got me daydreaming about what my absolute dream fictional cozy town would look like if I could build one from scratch:

It would definitely have cobbled streets lined with ancient maple trees, a permanent crisp October breeze, a 24-hour artisan bakery that always smells like warm vanilla, and a massive, labyrinthine secondhand bookstore with hidden reading nooks behind every shelf. Oh, and of course—zero real crime, except for easily solved bake-sale mysteries! 🥐📚🍂

It made me wonder about your cozy reading fantasies:

If you could build your ultimate dream fictional town, what is the ONE non-negotiable feature it must have? A cozy tea shop? A hidden coastal cove? A secret underground library? 🏡✨

Click reply and tell me!

Until the next cliffhanger,

P.S. If you’ve already figured out the Odd One Out puzzle above, don't forget to send me your guess! — D.A. ☕🔎

P.P.S. Notice: D.A. conveniently forgot to include a 24/7 bacon butcher shop in her dream town blueprint. I am currently filing a formal appeal with town planning. — Chief Detective Dot 🐕📜
