Happy Wednesday!
Hi friend,
Good morning. It's 3:03 a.m. here on the farm. I'm up early for my flight to Memphis for the ACFW Conference and Storyfest. I'm looking forward to it, but I'll miss Joe and the critters while I'm away. Please pray that all the animals will cooperate for him while I'm away, and that he'll be in good health.
Please share your prayer requests, so I can pray for you, too.
FROM MY WRITING DESK
I finished plotting out Not One Sparrow. Now let's hope I can stick to my outline when I'm writing. I have a tendency to drift, which renders much of the planning process useless.
Storyfest is having a literary costume party! How fun is that? Have you read The Huntress by Carrie Cotten? I'm going as Cyrene. Shh. Don't tell anyone. The guests are going to have to guess.
FARM NEWS
Workers have been trimming the trees around the power lines, so Farmer Joe asked them to leave some branches for the goats. They've been happily munching on leaves. I didn't video that this week, but I did take some video of Darci and her daughter Jenny doing a little dancing last night.
AUTHOR SPOTLIGHT & GIVEAWAY
This week on Heartbeats & Hideaways, I’m welcoming romantic suspense author Lisa Phillips to the blog. Lisa shares how a few unexpected words at her Bible college graduation helped plant the seed for her writing career, along with the wonderfully creative process she uses to turn an idea into a finished story. She also talks about the role faith plays in her writing and why she relies on God to keep filling her creative well. We’ll also get a peek at her new Division Zero series, which blends romantic suspense with the danger and intrigue of a spy thriller. And be sure to stop by the spotlight for your chance to win The Lazarus Protocol, the first book in the Division Zero Special Ops series!

DANA MENTINK
As the dam crumbles and water sweeps across the terrain, their battle for justice and survival is just beginning.
When Mackenzie Bardine's brother Aaron was murdered in a drug deal gone wrong, she started a true crime podcast dedicated to exposing "Bullseye," the drug kingpin responsible. But her protective heart has never let go of the blame she places on herself and Aaron's best friend, Gideon Landry. On the run to the wilds of Washington to chase a recent lead, she meets none other than Gideon himself.
While conducting a wilderness survival class in remote Washington, Gideon never expected to cross paths with Mackenzie, and he's certainly not interested in helping her after he's already declined to participate in her vigilante podcasting. He carries a mountain of guilt about Aaron's fatal choices, but not for the reasons Mackenzie suspects.
As killers begin to circle Mackenzie like sharks, it's clear to Gideon she's in over her head, and in light of his troubled past with her brother, he can't bring himself to ignore her perilous situation. Then a flood threatens the town, turning their investigation into a race to escape the raging waters and the wrath of a powerful kingpin who wants to sink them both.
