Hi friend,
Last week, we took the German Shepherds to the vet. Maddison received a clean bill of health, but Callie had a "hot spot" (infected cut) on her back that required her to have the spot shaved and treated with a spray a couple of times a day for several days. It seems to be healed up now, thankfully.
Not much else new around here.

FROM MY WRITING DESK
I spent most of the week catching up after being away for the ACFW Conference, so I didn't get any writing done this week. This week, I'm hoping to get some words down on the page.

The shipping container doors opened with a metal screech. Dante Reyes had seen many things in his time working with the CIA, but when green eyes met his through the darkness of that container, his breath went out of him like he'd taken a gut punch. She was his former SEAL brother's younger sister. The one he'd been warned not to pursue. The one Wally had made him swear to protect if anything ever happened to him.
His hand drifted toward the Glock concealed at his spine before discipline locked his muscles.
Wendy's gaze registered recognition, imploring him to help, her face pale beneath the grime. Two men unloaded the women and led them to an awaiting van. Six armed guards formed a perimeter around the operation.
Dante was here to gather intel, not a rescue mission. If he acted to stop them now, they'd kill him before he could reach his weapon. Wendy and the others would be sold regardless of his feeble efforts.
"What do you think of the merchandise, Jamal?" Khalid al-Masri asked in Arabic.
Dante crinkled his nose and gestured toward the women being herded into a van. "They need baths."
"You must check your boss's interest. The auction comes in seventy-two hours."

FARM NEWS
Cassie Cat was out gallivanting when we went out to feed the critters this morning, but she showed up before we finished our chores, just in time for some cat treats.
Speaking of treats, the cherry tree is nearly bereft of leaves already, but there are some cherries that never fell, so Joe and I worked together to pull a bunch of them down for the goats last night. They enjoy the special treat.
In other news, today is the day we bring home the hay! Farmer Joe is out at Charlie's farm grabbing 60 bales of hay. He'll pick up another 60 in a week or two, so that we'll have enough to get us through until next year. As we get older, those hay bales seem to get much heavier.
