Moving your MailerLite automations: what to expect

Your MailerLite automations don't have to be rebuilt from a blank page—but they don't arrive finished, either. This page says exactly what imports on its own, what doesn't, and the fastest way to close the gap, so you know the size of the job before you start.

What comes over automatically

Automations → Import from MailerLite reads each automation from the current MailerLite (dashboard.mailerlite.com) and recreates its structure here as a draft sequence: the trigger, every wait and its timing, branch conditions, and each email's subject line. Alongside each email you'll also find MailerLite's screenshot of the original—so the email you're filling in is right there in view.

What doesn't: the email text

The words inside each email don't import, so every email arrives with its subject filled in and its body empty. That's a MailerLite limitation, not a step we skipped: its API doesn't share email content with anyone, and every platform's migration guide—Kit's and beehiiv's included—lands in the same place, with you pasting the text back in yourself.

The fastest way to paste your emails back in

You don't need to retype anything, because your emails already exist in full and MailerLite will happily send them to you:

1. In MailerLite, open the automation and click an email step, then choose Send a test email to yourself. Even faster: the workflow-level Test button next to Activate sends every email in the automation to your inbox at once.
2. Open each one in your inbox and copy the text.
3. Paste it into the matching empty email here, using the screenshot beside it to check the result, then re-add your links and images.

That's a few minutes per email, and a typical welcome series is done in one sitting. Two smaller sources worth knowing: an email built in MailerLite's Custom HTML editor has a Code tab you can copy from directly, and any sent campaign offers View report → View email → Save as PDF if you want an offline reference copy.

Before you switch it on

• Review each draft sequence end to end—trigger, timing, branches—then activate it.
• Turn the MailerLite automation off once its replacement is live here. Both running at once means new readers get two welcome series in parallel.
• Existing readers aren't swept in when you activate—triggers fire on new events. The welcome-sequences guide covers deliberately enrolling readers you already have.
